As good as the Criots is, the 2000 Bātard is at another level with powerfully sappy flavors that seem to crash in successive waves on the palate and this is almost painfully intense with a finish that builds in intensity from the mid-palate and literally lasts for several minutes. Yet despite all of this size, weight and power, there is no trace of heaviness as all is beautifully buffered by forceful though ripe acidity. This is reference standard Bātard and worth a special search to find.
