The 2013 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru from Louis Jadot is a young and properly reserved wine out of the blocks. The nose opens with red and black cherries, venison, cocoa, woodsmoke, and a refined base of soil and cedar-inflected oak. On the palate, the wine is pure, full-bodied and tightly knit, with a solid core of fruit, fine mineral tension and a strong sense of structure. The tannins are ripe but firm, and the finish is long, focused and quite tangy. This is a wine with very good potential that will require time to come together.
