The 2001 Pinot Noir Blue Slide Ridge offers up aromas of blackberries, raspberry liqueur, and flowers (acacia or violets?). This intense, full-bodied, velvety-textured Pinot brilliantly combines power and elegance. A fabulous sweetness and purity of fruit goes on forever. Somewhere there must be some new oak since it is aged in 100% new Francois Freres barrels, but it has been soaked up by the wine's marvelous concentration.
